Should I go for the summer fling?

This guy and I have been friends for a couple years (we were on the same sports team in high school) and I like him and I'm pretty sure he likes me. Long story short, a couple months a go I asked him to prom and he said yes! We had a great time and ended up hooking up. Recently, we've been texting a lot and we hung out at our school's most recent dance. I'm leaving for college in the fall and he is going to be a senior in high school. Is it bad if I want to have a fling with him over the summer?
